MIXED SUMMER FISHING ACTION
FOR DORADO AND YELLOWTAIL
July 1, 2005, Mike Kanzler, Isla San Marcos, Santa Rosalia, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing Report:
The yellowtail are still biting and there are a few big dorado in the fishing mix in the Santa Rosalia area.
The weather for the week was still the same, hot and with no winds. Air temperatures are in the high 80s to 90 degrees. Water temperatures are at 76-78 degrees, with 30 feet of visibility inshore and the island, and with 80 feet offshore.
I'm off to Cedros Island for the Yellowtail Tournament.
I did fish every day this week and yellowtail was still steady and the three guys I fished four days with, James Holdsworth of Rockledge, FLa., John Kovach of Brentwood, Calif., and Jesse Gurkovic of Discovery Bay, Calif., had a great time, with 5 yellowtail per day and a few very nice dorado of 34-40 pounds, and a sailfish. I will do a full report on the Cedros Tournament.
