San Quintin, Mexico:
Bottom Fishing Good This Week, With Surfing At El Playon

Jan. 26, 2006, Kelly Catian, K&M Offshore Sportfishing, San Quintin,, San Quintin fishing, Baja California, Mexico:

San Quintin's weather continues to be really nice. It's cold in morning sunny and warm during the days and afternoons.

The water temperature is still good at 58-60 degrees. We've got some big tides coming with the new moon phase that should get the bass going down south and at San Martin Island.

Bottom fishing at San Quintin continues to be good with bigger fish being caught at the farther spots for those sportfishing boats willing to go the extra mile. A lot of the fish being caught at local spots seem to be of small to medium size.

San Quintin had a little rain on Wednesday morning but roads are in good shape.

I'll be going down to Isla Geronimo and the Sacramento Reef on the weekend so I'll let you know how that goes.

I haven't seen any white seabass lately but there were some yellowtails at Isla San Martin.

San Quintin Surfing: I took the whole crew out for an overnighter at Lupe's over the weekend and scored great head high point surf. The older kids surfed Lupe's with me and the younger kids, girls included, surfed the foamers at "El Playon" just down the point.

The number of local surfers at San Quintin is growing fast as these kids learn to love the ocean.

K&M Offshore Sportfishing will be starting a fishing school in the summer where we plan to get even more local kids into fishing, surfing, diving and off the streets. Monte recently purchased 20 rods and reels, all Shimano, for the fishing school and many friends have donated old surfboards and wet suits.
