NO TUNA FOUND AS SPORTFISHING BOATS SEARCH OUTSIDE
Oct. 2, 2005, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin sportfishing, Baja California, Mexico:
We had 16 boats fishing at San Quintin this week. San Quintin weather has been overcast in the mornings but hot in the afternoons, high 80's and low 90's. There are no winds to speak of. There is a storm down in Cabo but we have not felt any effects from that as of Sunday.
In water 13 to 15 miles off the point, we have a 69 to 70 degree current. We sent 2 fishing boats out to check for tuna, but nada, nada. Yellowtail and lingcod are still going strong.
Stan Woodward of Manhattan Beach and Doug Coffey of San Diego, fished 2 days at San Quintin and got 11 yellowtail to 25 pounds and large ling cod and large rock cod. Jeff Evans, Ron Anderson, and Marc Brogan of Long Beach limited their first day of fishing on large lings and large rock cod.
