Anglers Competing In Don Eddie's Landing Sportfishing Tournament

The first day of the July 4th weekend fishing tournament was held Saturday, July 3, at Don Eddie's Landing, San Quintin, Mexico, with 44 anglers competing for sportfishing prizes and trophies. The final results of the two-day fishing event will be available on Sunday afternoon.

For the first day of fishing, the results were: first place, 31.08-pound yellowtail; second place, 19.03-pound lingcod; third place, 18.07-pound lingcod.

The weather temperature at San Quintin has been good for fishing, averaging 69 degrees, with skies partly cloudy, and moderate winds. The water temperatures have been, 52 degrees at the point; 53 degrees at the 180, 240, 6, and Ben's Rock. About 40 to 45 miles out, the water temperature goes up to 62 degrees, with very clear water, and calm seas.

Most San Quintin fishing boats have had very good results, with plenty of yellowtail to 31 pounds, lots of very large lingcod, and red rockcod to 18 pounds. Most anglers have caught their limits. San Quintin hotels are full for the weekend.
