San Quintin, Mexico:
Bottom Fish Limits Are By Noon, Lots Of Humboldt Squid

April 16, 2005, Sarai Garcia, Don Eddie's Landing, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico sportfishing:

About 2 boats per day are going out. Fishing days are getting better in San Quintin. Air temperatures are going up to 78 degrees, with hardly any winds. San Quintin fishing water temperatures ranged from 59 to 61 degrees. The seas were very calm at San Quintin for the entire weekend. Boats are fishing out more often at the 240, 180 spots and at San Martin Island. Bottom fish are so plentiful that most of the boats are coming in with limits by noon. Rockcods are exceptionally heavy, weighing up to 7 pounds, lingcods up to 21 pounds, and sheepheads are ranging to around 12 pounds. It seems that the presence of the Humboldt squid is never going to come to an end. Every single San Quintin sportfishing boat is bringing in about half-a-dozen or so squid. They are filleting them, preparing them with batter and spices, and deep frying them. They are tasty. Most of them are taking some Humboldt squid home to their friends.

Juanita Martin and her husband, Joe Martin, stayed with us this weekend with their family and friends, and they had a wonderful time.
