YELLOWFIN TUNA SHOW AND THEN
DISAPPEAR FOR SAN QUINTIN BOATS

Sept. 4, 2005, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

We had 25 boats fishing at San Quintin this week, and they all probably think I lied last week about the yellowfin tuna.

Saturday last week, 5 purse seiners with helicopters showed up 20 miles off the point. By Monday, our count was 1 or 2 yellowfin tuna per boat, and as of today, Sunday, this week, "NADA." The captains of these commercial fishing vessels were not speaking Español either. We can only hope for another school of yellowfin tuna to show.

There is still some yellowtail at the 240 and 6 fathom spots and at Isla San Martin, and we also have great rockcod and lingcod at the 240 spot.
