YELLOWTAIL, SQUID, AND LINGCOD FOR 12 BOATS

March 20, 2005, Pete Hillis, Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja fishing, Mexico:

This week we had 12 fishing boats out at San Quintin. Fishing conditions at San Quintin weren't the best over the weekend. We did have Dave Sherman, Glen Emmerson, and Karl Woehstien of Century 21-Amber Fish Club come down though. They fished on the Paloma with Capt. Pato and brought in 10 nice yellowtail, 15 to 20 pounds. Also mixed in with their catch was some nice giant squid and large lingcod. Blue-white jigs were the hot ticket for the yellowtail fishing, which was at the 15 fathom spot.

Heavy winds and rain came in to San Quintin on Saturday turning all sportfishing boats around at the point. But by Sunday, the winds had ceased and San Quintin had clear skies.
