YELLOWTAIL ON THE BITE AT ISLA CORONADO

Jan. 29, 2006, Pam Bolles, Baja Big Fish Company, Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico Sportfishing Report:

Loreto fishing has been good for Yellowtail to the north of Isla Coronado over a reef called Ildefonso which is halfway to San Bruno.

Some 30 and 40 pound class yellowtail are eating off the bottom.

On Friday, Francisco fished at La Cholla and 30 pound class yellowtail were breezing at the surface, but they were not feeding on flies or jigs, and Francisco had no bait as they were fly fishing.

Unfortunately there have been so sardinas available to catch and use for chum. Otherwise we would have had a fly rod record on Friday.

Tuesday and Friday were the only fishable days at Loreto this week. The rest of the days were windy, or good only for diehards.
