YELLOWTAIL FISHING TAKES A POWDER

Jan. 15, 2006, Pam Bolles, Baja Big Fish Company, Loreto, Baja, Mexico Sportfishing Report:

The Yellowtail bite has changed at Loreto. I went out fishing on Thursday and we got skunked. There were a dozen boats off La Cholla and I think about one fish caught total.

The bite was also off on Friday.

I hear that there are yellowtail on the surface at Punta Pulpito north of Loreto, but cannot confirm it. The moon is full now. Mackerel bait is easy to get but do so before 8 a.m. as it will turn off.

Loreto had wind on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday was so-so and Thursday was gorgeous. Friday and Saturday were decent on the surface.

Today we got a little rain. Loreto seas were calm in the morning but right now the wind is starting again. We expect the next two to three days to be windy.
