EAST CAPE CHARTER BOATS FISHING IN COOLER WATER TEMPERATURES

Jan. 21, 2006, John Ireland, Rancho Leonero, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico Sportfishing:

East Cape sportfishing waters were cooler this week,, 63 to 68 degrees, with rough seas most of the week, only 2 calm days, mild highs to the upper 70's, and cool mornings around 60.

The north winds for 5 days this week meant for few charter fishing boat departures at East Cape. Only 2 boats fished on the calm days.

However, the had great dorado fishing with limits of fish to 25 pounds, and lots of sierra inshore.

East Cape had a wide open dorado bite on the calm days, with fish to 25 pounds taking hoochies and bait, north off the Punta Pescadero buoys.

Inshore, there are lots of sierra, just off most East Cape area beaches.

Not much to report this week. We're looking forward to better fishing when calmer weather returns.
