L.A. BAY FISHING TRIP ON IGOR GALVAN'S CHARTER
PANGA, ZODIACS, AND A BAJA TIN BOAT

Aug. 2, 2004, Dean Mitchell, L.A. Bay, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

We fished with Igor Galvan (direct dial telephone from the U.S., 011-52-200-124-9104) on Friday July 23rd. After making bait with perfect 6"-8" mackerel right in front of the village of L.A. Bay, we headed out to Punta Las Animas. Using circle hooks and 50# line we dropped down about 200' and limited on decent 16-20# yellowtail. Jennifer Boneno of San Diego caught her first fish and Igor coached her pretty well. She wound up with 4. Andrew Lasher of San Diego finally caught his first keeper-sized White Seabass. Kevin Boneno of San Diego added a nice Huachinango.

Additionally, the infamous "Hans Grouper" (Matthias Gruber) was with us along with his girlfriend Kate Roberts. Everyone is from San Diego. We stayed at Guillermo's in the hotel.

5 of us fished off his huge super panga and he was a busy man.

Wednesday and Saturday we fished the islands and snorkeled. We had a squadron of 12' zodiacs and a tin boat and snorkeling was pretty good. The fishing was kinda slow but we did catch dinner with sierra, cabrilla and 2# Yellowtail. The weather was absolutely perfect, high clouds added humidity but kept the sun of off our backs. The air was in the low 90's and the water was about 80 degrees.
