PALMILLA CHARTER SPORTFISHING
BOATS CATCHING ROOSTERFISH

June 24, 2005, Luis Duhart, Palmilla Bay Sportfishing, San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico Report:

We had a slow week after the Western Outdoor News (W.O.N.) event but now things are moving again. Most of this week, we had roosterfish from 30 to 45 pounds, and the bait was mainly lisa. Some charter fishing boats tried early in the week at the Gordo Banks but had just very few catches on pargos and roosterfish.

Today's fishing at San Jose del Cabo (Los Cabos) was a different story. We had six sportfishing boats going out, and 4 tried going out for marlin and tuna. No luck an those, but 1 boat went to the Gordo Banks and got lucky with a very nice 25 pound dorado. Fishing were Dan Bordreaux and his son Daniel. There was no bait today because we had "marejada," so the bait pangas at La Playita couldn't catch any. Anyhow they went with Capt. Pino in the 2 Hermanos super panga and caught some bait on the way to the Gordos.

Also the boat Cristine with Capt. Gustavo, went to Palmilla Point about 4 miles offshore, instead of going out, and caught a 31 pound cabrilla with Steve Seper and Thomas Garber, they also caught a small yellowfin tuna.

The water temperature just increased a few degrees and I guess this means dorados and tunas will be coming soon.
