EARLY MORING WAHOO BITE WITH CAPT. EDUARDO GULUARTE

Dec. 13-20, 2004, Phil Prichard, La Playita, San Jose del Cabo, Baja fishing, Mexico:

Dale Prichard of Redondo Beach and Casey Van Alden of Trinidad, Calif., fished with Capt. Eduardo Guluarte of La Playita, San Jose del Cabo. The fishing was excellent, with a wide-open wahoo bite early, then dorado and tuna as a backup. Bait was plentiful at La Playita. We caught mainly dorado, tuna, wahoo. Casey caught a 30-pound plus dorado. Antonio, Eduardo's brother, was catching marlin over by San Lucas. The ocean was very mild to flat, with some wind in late morning. I wore sweats in the morning to keep the chill off. It was in the upper-70s to low-80s. We mainly fished about 2 miles off Punta Gorda, a little further toward East Cape. Eduardo fishes for Punta Gorda Fleet. He is the brother of Antonio who won the first W.O.N. tuna tournament. His family has been fishing La Playita for a long, long time.
