PLENTY OF MIXED SPECIES FISH CAUGHT 45 MILES SOUTH

May 2, 2005, Arthur Pina, Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco), Mexico Fishing Report:

I fished over the weekend at Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) with Jon Kay of Tiburbon's Charters and friends, 45 miles south of Rocky Point, in a water temperature of 71.5 degrees, with calm conditions. I had a great time. We caught some greenbacks on a reef 12 miles south of Rocky Point, and continued to our destination.

We drifted and caught a nice grouper, 25 pounds, and goldspotted bass, enough for everyone to enjoy some good eating. And then Jon caught a nice yellowtail, about 15 pounds, on a free-lined greenback. We were surrounded by whales and we also were engulfed by squid about 2 feet long. We caught some and everyone got squirted. I am bringing them in. We are going to cook them to see how they come out. Another great fishing weekend in Rocky Point.
