FISHING BOATS FIND YELLOWFIN TUNA OFF ISLA CORONADO

Sept. 18, 2005, Pam Bolles, Baja Big Fish Company, Loreto, Baja Sur, Mexico Sportfishing Report:

There are Yellowfin Tuna now in the Loreto fishing area of the Baja coast. There is a big school 10 miles north of Isla Coronado in line with Punta Lobos. Hopefully the commercials will keep their hands off, but they've been consistent fishing for three days now. We found the yellowfin tuna school on Friday and since it's been consistent. We have been fishing it each day.

On Friday bait was tough to catch at Loreto, and the fish took feathers anyway. There are both Tuna averaging 20 pounds and a few Dorado mixed in. There are also Striped Marlin in the same area. There are some larger, 50 pound Tuna in this school as well.

Yesterday and today mackerel bait was easier to catch at Loreto and the Tuna took mackerel.

There are no more squid around in the Loreto vacation fishing area of the Baja coast. Otherwise, inshore fishing has been slow and the straight out Dorado fishing slow too.
