GOOD FISHING TRIP ON THE CHARTER BOAT WHISKY III

April 5, 2005, Vince Cornett, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:

Ken Ogden and I just got back from my first trip in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. What an amazing place. The fishing was slow the first couple of days but changed overnight.

We had incredible fishing on the yellowtail jacks, ranging from 12-20 pounds. We also caught lots of Bonito, pretty nice size. I added to the mix a Chula and small Amberjack one day. Then on our last day, Mondy, with the conditions looking good, we went for the big game and it paid off. We raised 5 Marlin, 2 Striped and 3 Blues, and we ended up bringing in the 2 striped marlins and pulling the hook on a good 100+ kilo Blue after a short fight. The other 2 Marlin just came up in the pattern and ate all the bait but never stuck. It was just awesome to see them chew.

We were fishing with Arturo on the Whiskey III from Whiskey Water World for 3 of the 4 days.

We were fishing 27-30 miles out in the blue water when we got the Marlin. Also, on the other days we did hook several roosterfish and lost every one them. That is a tough fish to land.
