EAST CAPE BEACH FISHING VERY SLOW AT PUNTA ARENA

Nov. 26, 2005, Mike Reichner, Baja Beach Captain, East Cape Beach Fishing, Baja Sur, Mexico:

I've fished the point at the Punta Arena light for the past 2 days with nary a bite. There is no bait to be found.

On Thanksgiving day, however, I scored a grand slam on sailfish, marlin and a grande dorado only a mile or so off La Ribera. The whole East Cape fishing fleet was there and I sometimes could see 7 or 8 different boats hooked up.

A Mexican amigo, fishing alone with 2 poles, hooked up with both rods at the same time on two occasions. Funny to watch.

East Cape fishing water temperatures are at 78.

There has been no wind now for 4 days.

Another friend boated a 45 inch sierra right in front of Hotel Punta Colorada yesterday morning. The Punta Colorada fleet continues to get football tuna and dorado between the hotel and Cabo Pulmo. There are lots of sailfish around.
