BISBEE'S 2005 EAST CAPE FISHING TOURNAMENT OFFICIAL REPORT

Aug. 6, 2005, Wayne Bisbee, Bisbee's East Cape, Baja Sur, Mexico Fishing Tournament Report:

Hello from the Bisbee's Buena Vista Beach Offshore Tournament weigh station in front of the beautiful Buena Vista Beach Resort. This is the recap for the 3rd and final day of fishing, and today we finally got the qualifying fish to bite.

The tournament had 56 teams fishing this year, up from 44 last year, and $243,060 in prizes on the line. The total for today's daily jackpots is $196,020, because of the day 1 and day 2 rollovers of $65,340.00 each due to a lack of qualifying fish those two days.

The East Cape fishing weather was absolutely awesome today, clear, just a slight breeze, quite warm of course.

The cumulative amount of billfish released for the tournament was 116. This consisted of 64 striped marlin, 24 blue marlin, and 28 sailfish.

Our final standings are:

First Place, largest blue marlin, 344 pounds, caught by Charlene Sanford on "Adam's Folly," earning a total of $224,244 for weighing the event's only qualifying marlin. This is the largest individual payout in East Cape tournament fishing history.

The largest tuna was 48.5 pounds, caught by Bodo Meschkat, on "Dusty B III," on day 3, earning $9,408.

The largest dorado was 53 pounds, caught by Cliff Wilson, on the "Que Sera," on day 2, earning $9,408.

The First Place Release Team was "Dos Amigos" with 1500 points. They released 3 blue marlin, 2 striped marlin, and 1 sailfish.

The 2nd Place Release Team was "The Bottom Line" with 1000 points. They released 1 blue marlin, 4 striped marlin, and 1 sailfish.

The 3rd Place Release Team was "Sneak Attack" with 900 points. They released 2 blue marlin, and 1 striped marlin.
