ABOUT 20 BOATS ENTERED THIS YEAR IN LOCAL FISHING TOURNAMENT AT LA RIBERA

Aug. 18, 2004, Rod Albright, La Ribera, Baja, Mexico:

This past Sunday, Aug 15th, we fished in the Annual La Ribera fishing tournament. There were 20 different East Cape fishing boats ranging from basic pangas to super pangas and crusiers. Along with my Baja teamates Perry and Jerry Jones we landed the largest fish in the tournament. It was a 40 kilo striped marlin. Not a giant but big enough to win! East Cape fishing was slow for most of the boats with a few sailfish and dorado being caught. We caught 2 striped marlin and one dorado. We had 3 other chances at marlin also. The awards were held on the beach in La Ribera around 5:30 that afternoon. With about 1,000 of the local townspeople in attendence we were presented our awards and cash prizes. We had a great time and can't wait for next year.
