SEA OF CORTEZ SIDE MARLIN KEEP BITING AT CABO

June 15, 2006, Jorge Navarro, Pisces Fleet, Cabo San Lucas sportfishing report, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Even though Cabo San Lucas had some rough fishing weather this week, Pisces Fleet had an overall catch success rate of 93 percent for all fish species combined.

A total of 71 Striped Marlin were caught, of which 63 marlin, were released along with two Sailfish. On June 13th, our charter boat Ruthless released two striped marlin and boated a nice 210 pound Striped Marlin for Cabo San Lucas angler Kevin Reighter of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Fishing the same day, the charter boat Valerie released one Striped marlin and three Yellowfin tuna, and kept three Dorado for Team Tiger from Prairieville, Louisiana.

On June 15th, the 50 foot boat Sr. Moment released a Striped Marlin and boated 1 Dorado and 3 Wahoo for the group of Mr. Van Treese and friends. The Lawhead brother's released a 150 pound Striped Marlin on June 2nd during their annual fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas aboard the sportfishing boat Tracy Ann.

This week Dorado fishing action at Cabo San Lucas got a little better with a 40 percent success rate and an average size between 15 and 30 pounds.

Yellowfin Tuna catches slowed down at Cabo with only a 17 percent success rate. However, on June 10th the charter boat Andrea caught and released over 30 of dorado for Jeff Bird, Ed and Joe Uceda of Orange, Calif. Tuna caught at Cabo were between 10 and 25 pounds.

Pisces Fleet boats also caught a few Wahoo and Skipjacks and a couple of Roosterfish on the pangas.

The best fishing locations were on the Sea of Cortez, at Chileno and Santa Maria Bay, with a few catches close to San Jose del Cabo.

Cabo San Lucas sea conditions were rough, with very strong winds on the Pacific Ocean, which made us stay on the Sea of Cortez. It was a bit cold in the morning but really hot at midday reaching the 90 degrees. Water temperatures were at 66 degrees on the Pacific and 74 degrees on the Sea of Cortez.
