HEAVY RAIN BUT NO DAMAGE FROM HURRICANE OTIS

Oct. 2, 2005, Tracy Ehrenberg, Pisces Fleet, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico Hurricane Otis Report:

Hurricane Otis did no damage in Cabo San Lucas. We had some fairly heavy rain on Friday, into the early morning hours of Saturday, but nowhere near what we usually get with hurricanes. In fact we could do with more rain. Winds were about 35 m.p.h., and there are still some winds at Cabo San Lucas from 20 to 30 m.p.h., and no rain. The port of Cabo San Lucas has been closed since Friday. We expect it to open tomorrow. There are no huge swells, more chop than anything else. Cabo San Lucas boat operators left their boats in the water. Usually if it's going to be a major storm we pull them out. We didn' t even lose power and the airport remained open, operating as normal. Anglers or tourists planning to travel to Cabo will not experience any problems, other than a bit of mud on some of the streets.
