FISHING TRIP ABOARD THE BOATS TRACY ANN AND CABO MAGIC

Dec. 26, 2004, Jeff Steinke, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:

I fished Cabo San Lucas the two weeks before the Holiday and fishing was great. We landed ten marlin and four nice tuna on four boats trips with Pisces and Cabo Magic on the "Tracy Ann" and "Cabo Magic".

I also shore-fished at Cabo San Lucas from the Pacific beaches in the mornings and afternoons near the light house and had good fishing. Big Sierra were around with some kicker Rooster's too. A few jacks and some pesky needlefish were also mixed in. Rangers were the bait that gathered the most attention. I had one roosterfish about 50 pounds almost beach himself trying to eat my Ranger which I pulled from his mouth before he clamped down. My knee's shook for an hour after that very close encounter. Many whales passed by very close to the Cabo San Lucas beach while angling.

All marlin were released. Four tuna were caught thirty five miles south of the cape and the two double hooked marlin were caught a mile or two from shore, nine miles north of the light house.

I fished with a local expert beach-angler named Cabo Joe, Joe Horn. He taught me how to catch fish from the Cabo San Lucas beach. I was skunked until we became friends. I met him on the beach in front of Pedregal. This was the first time in Cabo San Lucas in December and I targeted the beach fishing with sierra in mind. It was better than expected once I became friends with Joe."
