THE 22-FOOT BAJA PANGA KAROL
FISHES AT ROCAS BALLENAS

Aug. 16, 2005, Juanchy Aguilar, La Bocana, Baja fishing report, Mexico:

I went fishing out of La Bocana on Aug. 10 in the 22-foot panga Karoll, with Jeff and Joe Bama of San Diego, California, and James Cox of San Francisco, California.

We went to Rocas Ballenas, 6.4 miles south of La Bocana, and we caught 26 bonito of 6 to 8 pounds, 12 barracudas of 8 to 10 pounds, and cabrillas. In the laguna of La Bocana, we caught 30 cabrillas and five halibut of 6 to 8 pounds.

We fished with 12 pound Ande line, Shimano Calcuttas, and Krocodiles. It was a very beautiful day with a little heat, but no wind. We fished 40 feet deep, in water temperature of 67.5 degrees, and 20 feet visibility.

From the end of this month and forward, we hope for very good Baja fishing for yellowtail, grouper, giant bass, tuna, and possibly wahoo.

We have a good natural place for launching here at the recreation area of my friend Bernardo Villacio called Camp Rene, with palapas and cabanas for sleeping at ten dollars, bar, and good restaurant, landing strip for single engine planes. For more information email me at Karol_36@ msn.com.
