Feb. 14-15, 2005, Kelly Catian, K&M Offshore Sportfishing, San Quintin, Mexico Fishing Report:

We had two boats fishing out of San Quintin out on Monday, I had Jimmy Chi and his friends fishing with me, and Oscar had Lawrence Li, Bill Siegel and Richard Oldenburg. We hit the 15 spot first, and Lawrence Li managed to scratch up one yellowtail on a scrambled egg Action Lure.

My guys were more interested in loading up on some big red rockcod and lingcod so we didn't spend too much time on the yellowtails.

Both boats got into good bottom action down south with 5-7 pound reds and some medium to large lingcod. The Humboldt squid were there as well so everyone got a little extra entertainment with ink everywhere and giant squids on the deck!

On Tuesday, Oscar took Lawrence Li and group fishing again out to the rockfish hole, and they got into the reds and lings again, with Li getting one of the bigger models.

Also, out of Don Eddie's Landing fishing on the Sofia with Capt. Armando was Tony Cruz and friends who got into some good rockcod and lingcods and Tony got his first Humboldt squid as well. San Quintin fishing weather was pretty good on Monday, with flat seas and light wind in morning and afternoon. Tuesday was a little more overcast with a little more wind. The sea surface water temperature was 59-60 degrees.

I think the white seabass are around the beach again as I talked to a local gill net fisherman who had over a dozen fish that were all good size, 30+ pounds.
