San Quintin, Mexico:
Yellowtail Caught At The San Quintin 15 Fathom Fishing Spot

Jan. 25, 2005, Kelly Catian, K&M Offshore Sportfishing, San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico:

This week's fishing at San Quintin started out on the 19th with Jimmy Chi and group. We went straight out to the 15 fathom spot and within 20 minutes we were into the yellowtail! A first time fisherwoman, Susana Valdez, caught her first yellowtail and then a couple more! The Chi group ended up their San Quintin fishing with six yellowtail in the 15 to 18-pound range, and a bag of lingcod and other bottom fish. The sea surface temperature was 59 to 61 degrees, and the water was semi-clear. Ocean conditions at San Quintin were flat and calm, and the weather was warm.

On the weekend co-owner Monte Kotur and our buddy Chris Pierce were down to San Quintin for fishing on one of our boats, while I had Marshall Fleck and George Lowell from Elsinore, Calif. Once again we found yellowtail at the 15 spot and Marshall landed some nice yellowtail, as well as George. Monte and Chris were doing pretty good too with hookups on the iron and on bait.

On Sunday, Capt. Oscar had Shu and Amy Yu fishing out of San Quintin for some bottom fish, and Mrs. Yu got a fat 27-pound yellowtail on the iron while taking a break from the lingcod and red rockcod.
