GOLF CLASSIC TOURNAMENT, SHRIMP
FESTIVAL, AND POSSIBLE NEW FISH PLANT

Oct. 14, 2006, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico:

Hola everyone from San Felipe on the first truly "cool" day of this season. I got up this morning to breezes blowing through the house and, almost, a slight "nip" in the air. It was a lovely feeling.

On the bookstore balcony now, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the thermometer says 80 degrees and the humidity is 35 percent. The sky is overcast and the breeze makes it seem cooler and very pleasant.

The overnight lows at San Felipe are getting much lower and people are telling me that they now need blankets while sleeping. Remember those?

The town of San Felipe is now gearing up for the Golf Classic Tournament which will be held on October 20th at Ventana Del Mar. The proceeds will go to the scholarship program at one of the schools here in town.

Also, the annual San Felipe Shrimp Festival will take place from November 2nd through November 5th, Thursday to Sunday, and that usually brings a lot of people into town.

Two items worth keeping track of: A possible Japanese-managed fish processing plant going up south of town and private land developers taking away more and more of San Felipe's public beach access. I'll have more information on each of these issues as it becomes available. Until next week, vaya con Dios from the bookstore by the bay.
