THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY CROWDS ARRIVING

Nov. 27, 2005, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Town Report:

Hola everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving from sunny, cool San Felipe. Right now it is even a little chilly at 60 degrees and humidity at 28 percent. Last night the temperature went down to 52 degrees at my house and we had to abandon sitting on the patio and retire indoors. And today I had to admit it's winter and put on long pants. For us all year-round San Felipe residents these temperatures seem downright cold. But for most folks, today is near perfect with clear blue skies and a slight breeze putting a nip in the air.

San Felipe was very crowded this weekend with all the Thanksgiving weekend visitors. The vendors were all doing very well, and lots of hair was being braided.

This past Saturday was also "Snow Bird Day" with prizes and food in front of the Tourist Bureau. The town will continue to buzz right through New Year's.

Ed and I have started walking early every morning. We go up to the San Felipe football field next to the town swimming pool and walk around it 9 times. There are about 20 other San Felipe "regulars" who also show up every morning and we are getting to know them. This was an unexpected bonus. We seem to be the only gringos there so far but "working out" with our San Felipe neighbors has made us feel much more a part of the community. 'Til next time...vaya con Dios from the bookstore by the bay.
