PANGA MOTHERSHIP ERIK MAKES
9TH MIDRIFF FISHING TRIP OF SEASON

June 4-9, 2005, Dana Kerby, Baja Sportfishing, Inc., Erik, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico Panga Mothership Fishing Trip Report:

The Erik had a successful 9th fishing trip to the Midriff Islands out of San Felipe this season. This was a charter out of the Ventura area, with Mike Biedebach as the charter master.

The group had daily jackpots and I understand the largest yellowtail caught was 33 pounds, and the largest cabrilla was 18 pounds. The fishing weather was good until the last two days, when the wind kicked up causing fishing to cease on Wednesday afternoon, and caused there to be no fishing on Thursday morning as well. But everyone got plenty of fish.

The fishing locations visited before the Erik returned to San Felipe were: Refugio, Punta Diablo, Vibora, San Lorenzo, La Raza, San Esteban, San Luis Gonzaga and Ensenada Grande. There was too much wind for fishing at the Golden Reef again this week. The catch was as follows: 233 yellowtail, 182 cabrilla, 8 grouper (30-33 lb.), 12 leatherback grouper in the 35 lb. range, 7 pargo and 85 miscellaneous fish, including any yellowtail and cabrilla under 10 lbs.
