FISHING BETTER AT PAPA FERNANDEZ FOR
SIERRA, BARRACUDA, AND POMPANO

Oct. 17, 2004, Doug Magee, Papa Fernandez, Northern Sea of Cortez, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

Fishing is picking up. There are large schools of sierra, barracuda and pompano showing from the Islands to Punta Finial. Some of the Sierra are good size. Ray Ginocchio, of Walnut Crk. Ca. took a 36 in. Sierra that had a girth of 16 in. Ray, a 30 year residendent of S.L.G. said it was the Biggest Sierra that he had ever taken or seen. The fish was released to fight again. Shore fishing has picked up also. Corvin, Pompano, Barracuda and the standbys Triggerfish and Bass are Hitting. Those who are heading this way from San Felipe should be aware that the pre-runners for the Baja 1000 (Nov 17-20) are on the road south of Puertecitos at HIGH SPEEDS.
