MEMORIAL DAY VACATIONERS MAKE
STREETS BUSY AND CROWDED

May 29, 2004, Catalina Meders, Title Company Bookstore, San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico:

Hola everyone, from BUSY, CROWDED San Felipe. Of course, it's Memorial Day weekend. The crowds started arriving on Wednesday evening. The San Felipe weather is absolutely perfect for the celebration, highs of the low 90's (F) in the day, with very few clouds and just a little wind, and overnight lows in the low 70's, so sleeping is fine (not that anyone is doing much sleeping these nights).

My next door neighbor has 11 brothers, most of whom live up in the States. Every year on Memorial Day weekend they ALL come and visit him, bringing their families and several trailers full of ATV's and food. Last night they hired a live band and had a combination family reunion and birthday party. There was dancing in the street 'till early morning. These people really know how to party, but I AM happy they only do it once a year. The vendors are busy braiding hair and selling curios, and all is well in this little part of the world anyway. Until next time, vaya con Dios...from the book store by the bay.
