SAILFISH STRIKES AVERAGING 10 T0 12 PER FISHING DAY

Oct. 17, 2004, Juan Pablo Moll, Mr. Marlin, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Fishing:

The fish are still here, with some of the fishing inside the bay, but the best Puerto Vallarta fishing is outside where the big fish hang out, and everyone knows is in Corbetena and El Banco.

This past week we were catching lots of sailfish, 10-12 strikes per day, also some dorados, all of this was happening north of corbetena, 5 to 7 miles. It was sailfish heaven. You were able to see them feeding in groups or by themselves. Also, closer to el Banco you were able to find the tunas but they were traveling with the spinner dolphins so we were able to catch medium size tunas 100-150 lb.

Last 2 days, Puerto Vallarta fishermen from other boats went south of Corbetena and found the spinner dolphins and started to catch tunas. Marlin were also seen jumping. Some were caught. One of them around 700 lb., a black marlin, took them 3 hr. to land. It was caught on a live skipjack by Wayne McFarland from Morris, Il., aboard the TOP GUN, a Bertram 33'.

Puerto Vallarta water temp. has been in the mid 80. The color of the water has maintained really nice, most of the time blue. The weather in PV has been cooler than it has been in the past few weeks but still hot during the day.
