BOATS FIND GAMEFISH HOLDING AT EL BANCO AND ROCA CORBETENA

Sept. 25, 2004, Kurt Hjort, Esperanza Sportfishing, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Fishing:

The fishing at Puerto Vallarta has remained excellent and the calm waters have returned after the swell from hurricane javier. Blue water and trash lines from recent afternoon rains have brought good dorado action about 4-10 miles past the marietta islands, and a lot of sails have been mixed in also. Wahoo are starting to make a showing at Puerto Vallarta also and I have heard of a few being caught this week although we didn't see any on my boat.

Repeat Puerto Vallarta anglers Ken and Kim Sharp from idaho fished thursday and friday on the Esperanza super panga at Corbetena and ended up with 5 dorado to 25lbs and 2 sailfish releases on the first day, and 2 dorado and a painful 2hr battle with a Big yellowfin in the 300lb range lost near the boat. Lucky fish!!

The marlin and yellowfin continue to hold at corbetena and the banks with bait being the main concern. If you can catch the bait, you will get fish. Puerto Vallarta water temps are still in the mid to high 80s.

Afternoon thunderstorms are still the norm until the middle of october.
