MEXICAN FISHING BOATS FIND WARM GREEN WATER AT 88 DEGREES AT EL BANCO

Aug. 29, 2004, Kurt Hjort, Esperanza Sportfishing, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Fishing Report:

The fishing offshore at the bank and corbetena has remained very good but with some odd conditions. Puerto Vallarta water is around 85-88 degrees in both places but has been off-colored to green water. The fish are there, however, and as long as you could supply with skipjacks, you were in business.

Not a lot of tourism this time off year means not a lot of boats going out, but those that are, and the private sportfishers that know about Puerto Vallarta fishing, are consistantly hooking up to tuna in the 300 lb plus range and a good mix of black and blue marlin.

Charter boat "High Maintenance" landed a very rare white marlin recently and was confirmed by many private boat captains who have caught hundreds of these marlin and said a few confirmed reports in the`pacific do exist.

Puerto Vallarta sailfish and dorados have been scattered along debris lines and current edges and color changes with live goggle eyes slow trolled or small mullets both taking fish. Puerto Vallarta weather has seen more in the way of afternoon thunderstorms and the sea was a little rougher this week than in the past month as the storm season is kicking up a bit.
