BARRED PARGO CAUGHT IN WEEDS TO THE SOUTH

April 29, 2005, Doug Pierson, Mulege, Mexico Fishing Report:

We had great catches of 4-8 pound barred pargo, while fishing in the weeds south of the Mulege river. It took us 40-pound tackle to horse them out of the weeds but they sure are there! We also caught occasional good-sized cochis, a few porgies and a million spotted bay bass. At our camp at Los Naranjos, 8 miles into Bahia Conception, roosterfish rush the beach every day between 1-5 p.m., but we have not hooked any yet. Millions of spotted bay bass are on both shores of Bahia Conception, south of the range described in The Baja Catch. They are in their millions in Bahia Conception on both shores.
