LOCAL FISHERY TRANSITIONING FROM YELLOWTAIL TO DORADO

April 16, 2005, Ron Grant, Mulege, Mexico Fishing Report:

I just returned from a week in Mulege. Fishing weather was great in the mid 80s. The fishing water temperature beginning to warm. Fishing is on the slow side, as Mulege is going into the transition from yellowtail season to dorado season. Most fishing boats out of Mulege are having a hard time finding quality fishing. They may or may not find some yellowtail. The deep holes are your best bet. Jigs or live bait have been working about the same. There is no problem finding cabrilla on the rock piles or deeper water fish in most areas.

Some of the pangueros said they have seen dorado in the Mulege sportfishing area but none are coming into the docks as yet.

Runway at the Hotel Serenidad is in good condition.
