TOUGH PICK FISHING BETWEEN ISLAS SANTA INEZ AND ISLA SAN MARCOS

March 18, 2005, Gary Black, Mulege, Mexico Fishing Trip Report:

I went fishing at Mulege on 3/12/05 with a friend, Ken Wright, who owns the Cuesta Real Hotel RV park there.

We fished from Isla Santa Inez all the way up to Isla San Marcos. There was lots of bait spread out through the area and we saw boiling fish that would come up for a few moments, then slide away before we could get on them. A few fish were picked off on yo-yoed green-and-yellow Salas jigs but no troll fish with the usual lure of choice a black-and-silver Rapala.

It was a tough pick, but beautiful fishing weather and water conditions made for a great day on the water. Mulege water temperature was running 66-67 degrees and the air was in the high 70's with very little wind. Looks like it is getting ready to glass off for rest of the fishing season.
