JUST A FEW BOATS FISHING IN LOCAL WATERS THIS WEEK

Sept. 30, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

Between the no-boat fishing days and the port closure today, Mazatlan anglers didn't have too much action for the week.

Only nine Mazatlan boat-fishing days were reported for the week. It is the lowest number of boats I have ever reported on for Mazatlan, that reflected 1 blue marlin taken aboard the "Aries I", at 250 lbs., 1 sailfish and 24 dorado.

Mazatlan sportfishing area weather was warm, humid, cloudy and rainy with temperatures ranging from 73 degree nights to 92 daytime highs.

Sea conditions were rough and windy on Friday with the port being closed. Surface temperatures are stable at 88-89 degrees. The two billfish came from an area southwest of Mazatlan's Marina El Cid, approximately 25 miles out, while the dorado came from the buoys.
