VERY LIGHT SPORTFISHING ACTIVITY THIS WEEK

Aug. 19, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

There was very light sportfishing action at Mazatlan this week, with only a few Mazatlan charter boats fishing the offshore waters and reflecting a catch of 6 sailfish and 1 striper, along with 25 dorados. A couple of inshore super pangas days reflected 30 red snapper and 5 permit.

Mazatlan fishing weather on the Mexican coast was mostly cloudy, with temperatures from 74 nights to 92 daytime highs, and humid. Sea conditions were nearly calm, with temperatures at 84-85, and stable conditions. The best fishing was at the buoys for the dorado and southwest of the Marina, 22-26 miles for the billfish. Rigged baits were best for the billfish. Dorado were not quite so eager this week and live bait was working best.
