STRIPED MARLIN LEAVING MAZATLAN FOR COOLER WATERS

May 24, 2005, Bill Heimpel, Star Fleet, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

Striped marlin are still present but are on the run for colder waters now. Good numbers of sailfish are now arriving in Mazatlan waters, but just a few dorado. However, big schools of yellowfin tuna have been found along with the dolphin, mostly 10 to 15 pounds, but plenty. I personally landed 28 along with 2 friends last weekend. Water temperatures are 73 to 75 degrees. We celebrated on May 20th the 23rd annual fishing derby, Friends of the Marlin (L.A.P.D.) with plenty of sails, striped marlin and tuna. They made a donation for the Ciudad de los Ninos orphanage. There were 38 fisherman altogether in this group.
