YELLOWFIN TUNA COUNTS ON UPSWING FOR LOCAL FISHING BOATS

Dec. 18, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

Mazatlan yellowfin tuna fishing action spiraled upwards this week and was the mainstay of the action for the Aries Fleet, with most of the fish checking in at the 15 to 30 pound mark and a few in the larger ranges. Overall catches reflected 1 blue marlin, 6 stripers, 2 sailfish, 19 dorado and 181 yellowfin tuna and 1 mako shark for the week.

Mazatlan Climate: Cool nights, down to 53 degrees and shooting up to 86 as daytime highs, mostly sunny.

Sea Conditions: Water temps holding stable at 77 degrees.

Best Fishing Area; Southwest of the Marina El Cid, 25-30 miles.
