SAILFISH CONTINUE TO SET PACE FOR LOCAL FISHING BOATS

Oct. 29, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Mazatlan, Mexico Fishing Report:

The sailfish action continues to set the pace in Mazatlan sportfishing, remaining constant at above the 2-fish per boat day levels. Overall catches for the Aries Fleet, reporting 16 boat days, reflected 35 sailfish, (30 released) 24 Dorado, (6 released) 2 yellowfin tuna and 1 mako shark.

Mazatlan Climate: Rain & wind in early week, but back to fair weather by week's end, temps 65 nights to 90, daytime highs, partly cloudy.

Mazatlan Sea Conditions: A couple of rough days and a day of port closure in early week, and getting back to good conditions by the end of the week, with temps at 84-85 degrees.

Best Mazatlan Fishing Area: 20-25 Miles southwest of the Marina El cid

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged trolling baits were best for the billfish and dorado.
