FISHING ACTION SIDELINED BY WHALE WATCHING SEASON

March 5, 2005, Gary Graham, Baja On The Fly, Magdalena Bay, Mexico Fishing Report:

Whale watching in the Magdalena Bay fishing area is still taking center stage for both Lopez Mateos and Puerto San Carlos. In Magdalena Bay fishing action, there are still a few small yellowtail under the bird schools at the San Carlos entrada as well as a few leopard grouper deeper down in the water column. The mangrove esteros produced a few small snook both at Los Barriles and Devil's Curve. The Magdalena Bay fishing water temperature was 69-75 degrees, and the air temperature was 64-69 degrees, with scattered clouds.
