SPORTFISHING BOATS CATCH DORADO AT THE SHARK BUOYS

Oct. 23, 2004, Gary Graham, Baja On The Fly, Magdalena Bay, Mexico Fishing:

Still windy afternoons, Magdalena Bay sportfishing boats out early are finding lots of dorado (also mahi-mahi or dolphinfish) at the shark buoys 210-240 degrees, 14-20 miles. The bonus is every boat going comes back with a few wahoo. Not many marlin yet, only singles no volume yet. Magdalena Bay esteros were a tough sell this week with only corvina, cabrilla and a few grouper for several days fishing.

Water Temperature 72-79. Air Temperature 72-77. Conditions: T-Storms.

YELLOWTAIL: Magdalena Bay entrada just OK, look for the bird schools.

HALIBUT: Sandy beach at Belchers on the south side.

CORVINA: The bread and butter fish for the week in the esteros.

SNOOK: Got to be somewhere.

SIERRA: Watch under the bird schools throughout the bay.
