CABRILLA FISHING AT ISLA CORONADO

May 21, 2005, Jeff Petersen, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

I just returned from the evening on the water. We left after six, fished the north end of Isla Coronado in time to hit several nice cabrilla. After sunset, we added a small sliding weight and got into pargo alisan. We caught four or five before the moon rose and that ended it. We used sardinas.

Yesterday, while fishing out of Loreto, I crossed paths with one of Loreto´s finest auto mechanics, Edgar "Meno" Ulises Gimenez of Taller Mecanico General "Taller El Meno."

I fished the points on Coronado for cabrilla. The largest number were splashing around us on the north end, but with an unmanageable current. We found fewer as we worked around the east side, and large numbers of manta rays. Scored only lunch, triggerfish and pargo alisan.

My Loreto neighbor fished "hard" this week. After many days and hundreds of liters of fuel, fishing outside, he spotted many dorado, sailfish and marlin, but caught very little. No hot water. Lots of bait. The fish haven´t been interested in much.

The Loreto carnaderos are fishing nightly. Half-and-half, big macarela and jurelito. On the slow side.
