YELLOWTAIL ACTION GOOD NORTH OF TOWN AT SAN NICOLAS FISH CAMP

March 13, 2005, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

Loreto fishing area weather has been great, through all the different types of weather during the week, with a temperature of 62 to 80 degrees.

Yellowtail fishing has been very good in the Loreto area, specially in the north where we have our San Nicolas winter fishing camp. Loreto anglers who stay at the camp have the opportunity to be close to these good fishing areas, go fishing early in the morning, come back for lunch and a little rest, and go fishing again on the afternoon, and fish until it gets dark. The best yellowtail fishing in the Loreto area is at Punta Pulpito, averaging per boat 8 pieces.

More or less, the Yellowtail weigh between 18 and 30 pounds in on all the different spots.

Cabrilla and Snapper fishing at the Pulpito area has been excellent this week in the same areas as the yellowtail.

Angler Robert Ward reported to us: "A great time was had by all. Through all the different types of weather we still had great fishing for those famous Sea of Cortez Yellowtail. All in the 20 to 30 pound class. The Pargo and Cabrilla fishing was excellent when we were worn out from pulling on the brute yellowtail. Thanks for a great and memorable trip. I hope to see you again next year."

Also we have some yellowtail fishing locally near Loreto at the Punta Lobos Carmen and La Choya reef between Carmen and Coronado Island averaging per boat 3 pieces captured.
