ARTURO'S BOATS CATCHING DORADO, SAILFISH, MARLIN, AND DORADO

August 1, 2004, Arturo Susarrey, Arturo's Sportfishing, Loreto, Mexico Fishing Report:

Loreto weather, during the week has been very nice, no more rain so the weather is helping a lot.

Loreto Dorado Fishing: Definitely the fishing got better during the week, their size still the same, small ones are the majority some between 12 to 25 pounds and only few between 30 to 42 pounds. Better fishing catch sites were on Bajo Punta Lobos North of Carmen Island and Bajo San Bruno North of Coronado Island.

Some times many boats were making the Dorado schools move away from them because of their noisy motors, but anyway most of the catches were of 3 pieces per boat with average weight of 18 pounds and the biggest of 42 pounds.

Loreto fishing for Sail Fish and Striped Marlin: Lots of them in the same areas as the Dorado, usually catch it and release.

Loreto Yellowtail fishing, at Puerto Almeja 25 miles approximately North of Loreto, average weight 20 pound, average per boat 3 pieces.

BAIT: Available on Coronado Island ( catching your own ) or buy it early morning at the marina, at the price of 10 pieces for $ 15.00 U.S. and 20 pieces for $ 25.00 U.S.
