CALM, SUNNY, WARM WEATHER BRINGS IMPROVED FISHING FOR LOCAL BOATS

Dec. 2, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

Calmer fishing conditions and a rise in the ocean temperatures caused a spike in both, inshore and offshore activity last week at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

Angler Dennis Paul, fishing aboard the "Intruzza", landed 3 sailfish on his first offshore day.

Angler Tami Weisboro, fishing aboard the "Vamonos III", took top single day honors by landing 7 sailfish in one day.

Captain Angelo on the "Agua Azul", posted 5 sailfish and 1 blue marlin in 4 fishing days and Fernando on the "Michelle, posted 8 sailfish in 3 days of offshore fishing. Captain Chico on the "Llamarada", reported 4 sailfish for 2 fishing days.

Captain Jose Vargas on the "La Bamba", continues to be "red-hot" as his sportfishing clients landed 9 sailfish and 2 blue marlin in 5 fishing days.

Captain Martin on the "Marfel", fishing with French angler, Mr. Sallat, landed 5 sailfish 10 yellowtail jacks and 20 bonitos in five fishing days.

Captain Temo on the "Secuestro De Amor", fishing inshore with Angler Dennis Paul, landed 6 yellowtail jacks and a handful of bonito.

Dennis Choonover, fishing aboard the "Janeth", landed 6 sailfish in one day.

Mr. Courte, fishing aboard the "Dos Hermanos I", finished up the week by landing 2 sailfish on his last day.

Mr. Guardia, fishing 5 days on "Dos Hermanos II", with Captain Cheva, landed 6 sailfish, 9 yellowtail jacks, 2 roosterfish, 3 needlefish and 2 Spanish mackerel. Mr. Guardia's 2nd boat, "Gran Jefe", also fishing 5 days, landed 11 sailfish, 1 dorado, 16 yellowtail jacks, 1 roosterfish, 20 big needlefish, 70 bonitos on light tackle, 1 grouper, 28 Spanish mackerel and 1 amberjack.

Mr. Tarpin, also fishing inshore with Captain Adolfo, landed 2 roosterfish, 39 yellowtail jacks, 3 needlefish and 15 bonitos in 6 fishing days.

The biggest marlin caught at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo scaled over 500 pounds.

Vernon Tull, also fishing aboard the "Janeth", landed 17 jacks, 1 Spanish mackerel and 5 bonito on his first fishing inshore.

The blue water is now at the 8-mile mark.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather was sunny and warm, temperatures from 71 degree nights to low 90's daytime highs, seas calm, water temps at 84-85 degrees, bait supply excellent.
