FISHING WATERS CLEARING BUT ACTION SLUGGISH FOR LOCAL BOATS

Oct. 15-21, 2005, Stan Lushinsky, Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

The carryover of poor fishing conditions from last week’s storms and the full moon made a difficult start for this week's fishing at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

For the first four fishing days of the week the waters around Ixtapa Zihuatanejo were muddy and the blue water was beyond the 20 mile mark.

As the fishing water cleared toward the end of the week our sportfishing captains reported seeing many fish but they were reluctant to bite. Large schools of Sardines and other bait fish were located but the suspicion of night time full moon feeding made it difficult to lure the fish into striking.

European angler Mr. Jouret fishing aboard the Janeth landed 7 Bonitos, 2 Yellowtail Jacks and 1 Roosterfish in 4 days of fishing.

Captain Arturo made the long run to Puerto Vincentee Guerrero in search of better water and more aggressive fish but came up short.

Returning angler John Simmons managed a handful of bonitos, 2 Yellow Tail jacks and 1 rooster in 4 days of fishing with Captain Adolofo and Captain Cheva.

Also from Europe, Mr Hivart fishing aboard the Gran Jefe managed 21 Bonitos, 1 Chula, 1 Amberjack, 2 Bigeye Jacks and a handful of Roosterfish strikes.

Offshore, the end of week saw an improvement in the fishing as Captain Efraine reports a 2 Sailfish day for Mr. Jeremiah Doyle and a single Sailfish on one other day.

The Illusion also reported a 2 SAILFISH day and a single Sailfish day near the end of the week.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather was sunny and mild, with calm sea conditions, and the bait supply was good. Water temperatures are stable from 79 inshore to 81 offshore. Murky waters remain out to approximately 20 miles, but cleaning up.
