LOTS OF ROOSTERFISH STILL BEING CAUGHT

Aug. 29, 2004, Ed Kunze, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

The 82-degree blue water is only a half mile off the beach. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo sailfish action picked up this last week, from only 1 to 2 fish average to boat, to a fairly solid 3 fish per boat per day. The incredible roosterfish action is definitely holding up with the fish still averaging between 35 and 40 pounds.

I saw Adolpho leaving the municipal pier area yesterday in his panga Dos Hermanos. When I called out to him as to how he was doing on roosterfish he opened the palms of both hands and yelled back "muchos". Asking about the sailfish, he just gave me the two thumbs up sign.

Other Ixtapa Zihuatanejo inshore fishing action has been very good also. The most exciting thing happening is the invasion of large jack cravalle inside Zihuatanejo Bay. These hard fighting fish are running 12 to 25 pounds. When they drive schools of bait to the surface, it is like a major rainstorm as the sounds echo across the bay.
