CATCHES FOR 13 CASTRO'S CAMP FISHING BOATS INCLUDE CALICO BASS

April 17, 2005, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Erendira, Mexico Fishing Report:

Castro's Camp had 13 boats fishing during the week, and they caught lingcod, red rockcod, calico bass, and barracuda. Monday through Wednesday, the Erendira fishing area on the Baja California Pacific coast had northwest winds of 12 to 18 m.p.h. On Thursday, we had winds of about 10 m.p.h. in the morning, but it stopped in the afternoon, and Erendira had good fishing conditions on Friday and through the weekend.

Early in the week, we had some red tides, but it has been clearing up since Friday. The water temperature in our fishing area 4 miles from the coast has been 57 degrees. These last few fishing days, we are having very good luck on calico bass while fishing from about half a mile to one mile from the coast, around the kelp beds near Castro's Camp.
